Dear Trish - Tried to e-mail you privately 2 x's but bounced back.
Thank you for the 2 e-mails. Always glad to hear from another HACKETT
My George Ernest Hackett family were early in Ontario County NY,prior
to 1800. This line came out of Massachusetts. George's father was
Oliver Hackett.I am just beginning to trace back the line in Mass.
I have some dates of death for a couple of the children (George's)
buried in Ont. Co. NO obituaries. I would be most grateful if you
would share with me anything you have on this family. Am trying to
extend his descendants for my charts. My husband is a descendant of
George's brother,Albert. I believe I talked with a relative of yours
a few nights ago. Found a George Hackett listed in the book for
Batavia. Called him and spoke with a lovely 80 yr young gentleman.
He is not from my line, said his people were potato farmers, came over
around time of the famine. Settled in Java, because the land was so
good for growing potatos. Also said they were the only Hacketts in
Batavia for a long time, then some others (mine, I think!) came in. Said
there was a lady in his family doing research on their line. She lives
outside of NY, but could not remember where. Perhaps at one time in the
west? Could not remember her name, but knew none of his ancestors came
from Ont. Co. Are you the researcher? It was a pleasure talking with
him. Thanks again and would appreciate any info you might have ref. my
Hackett line. We will probably all link up somewhere in Ireland, way
