Joseph Hackett served in the war of 1812 as a private in Capt. Foster's
Co., 6th US Infantry.
Pension file summary:
16 Aug. 1814: Injured at Burlington, VT.
12 Feb. 1816: Discharged from army as totally disabled.
12 Sep. 1816: Applies for pension; resides Cheshire Co., VT.
3 Oct. 1816: Certificate of pension issued; sent to Chesterfield,
Cheshire
Co., NH.
24 July 1830: Has moved to Lyndon, Caledonia Co., VT to be with his
only
surviving parent and one of his sisters.
5 Mar. 1841: Has removed from Lyndon, VT to Columbia, Coos Co., NH;
sold
his farm in Lyndon and bought another in Columbia
(probably
abt 1836).
18 Nov. 1850: His wife is a widow and a letter is sent from Beloit,
Rock
Co., WI, inquiring about a widow's benefit.
Nothing else is known of this Joseph Hackett. I would appreciate any
information regarding his parents, spouse, or any children.
