Other WW I Records:
The original WW I Draft Registration cards are at National
Archives-Southeast Region, East Point (Atlanta), Ga and are available for
searching. These cards were completed in 1917 and 1918 for all males between
the ages of 18 and 45 residing in the United States. The cards usually
contain name, address, date and place of birth, citizenship, occupation,
signature, physical description, etc. of the person required to register.
(There were about three registrations during this time period and the
information requested was not the same on each registration.) They are filed
by state, then county, then local draft board. These records have been
microfilmed and I believe each regional branch of the National Archives has
the filmed records for the states in their area. They are also available
through the Family History Library. About 24 million men registred for the
draft so this is a great source of information.
