Thought this may be of interest to the Hackett researchers out there.
Hackett is of Scotch Irish Origin.
Hackett, This surname derives from the personal name Haket and was brought to
Ireland at the end of the 12th Century by Anglo-Norman settlers who
established themselves in Leinster, where their name is commemorated in the
townlands of Hacketstown and Ballyhacket Lower and Upper in Rathvilly barony,
Co. Carlow, Hackettsland in Rathdown barony, Co. Dublin, and Hacketstown in
Balrothery East barony, Co. Dublin. There are also places named Ballyhacket
in Ulster, in Co. Derry and Co. Antrim, and places named Hacketstown in
Munster, in Co. Cork and Co. Waterford. Castle Hacket in Clare barony, Co.
Galway, was once a stronghold of a branch of the family which established
itself in Connacht. The name is now rare in Connacht but survives in the
other three provinces with the heaviest distribution in Leinster,
particularly in Dublin and in Co. Kilkenny.

There is a Hackettstown, Warren Co., NJ and a lot of Hacketts migrated south
and west from here.
I am looking for farther information on Howard Sayer/Sayler Hackett and Mary
Brian born circa 1830-1840. Children are Hardin, Howard Bub, Mary [bef
1849], John [bef 1850], Nancy [abt 1855-1886], Ollie Andrea [abt 1858-abt
1812], James [aft 1860], and Sallie Buck [1864-1944]. A brother of Mary or
Howard, not sure which, helped to survey the capital city, Frankfort, KY.
Most interested in two of the children Ollie Andrea who married Toliver Crump
and Sallie Buck who married Mose Gulley then Eddie Gobel Jones. Area of Henry
and Owen Co. in KY. I have oral history on this branch of the Hacketts.
