Hi Mildred,

BROWN is such a popular name it is difficult to research. And in 1900 to 1920 there were hundreds of BROWN families in MA. Leominster and Fitchburg are in Worcester County, and even in that county there were many BROWN people. And a dozen or so Charles BROWN's. In Worcester Co., I did not find a Chester BROWN in 1900; I did find 2 in 1910, but one was a teen and they didn't live in Leominster or Fitchburg. Is there any chance his original name was Charles?

In 1920, there were ~770 BROWN people in Worcester Co., MA, alone. And, again, many Charles. I do find a Chester BROWN in Leominster this year.

But these pages are hard to read, and almost every person is a "lodger." So, there either must have been hotels or large rooming houses in Leominster at that time. I don't know how many "mills" were in Leominister but they were certainly in Fitchburg. Maybe the mill / factor workers lived in Leominster and worked in Fitchburg.

There was a BROWN family in Blackstone, MA, and a Chester and Elizabeth BROWN couple in 1920. They had 4 children mentioned including a daughter, Mildred, and some younger daughters.

There were 2 Mildred BROWN's in Fitchbury in 1920, but they were both "boarders."

That's all I can offer right now. I can't check the 1930 census. You could ask someone else for a look-up for that, and that might help.
