Which James Cole? There were several of them in 17th century New
England. The one who was in Plymouth by 1633 (and born about 1600 in
England) married Mary Tibbes 01-May-1625 at Barnstaple, Devonshire,
England (see the Barnstaple Parish Registers, published in 1903,
cited in "The Great Migration Begins"). It had been speculated that
Mary's surname was Lovel, deLovel or Lobel before the marriage to
Mary Tibbes was generally accepted.
