Charles -

I find no contemporary records that justify that belief. It did not
take place in Hingham or Weymouth. Book 4, p. 132 of the "History of
Hingham" gives neither Jane's surname nor a date for the marriage,
indicating that George Lincoln found neither in the town records. The
genealogical registers in the "History of Weymouth" do not give a
marriage for Jane Whitmarsh or a death date for her father, and
neither is found in Weymouth VR.

Without a date or place of death it is hard to tell. Plymouth County
has none - see Ralph V. Wood, Jr., Trancriber, "Plymouth County
Massachusetts Probate Index 1686-1881" (Camden, ME: Picton Press,
1988). I do not find one among the Plymouth Colony wills transcribed
in Charles H. Simmons, Jr., Editor, "Plymouth Colony Records, Volume
1: Wills and Inventories, 1633-1669" (Camden, ME: Picton Press,
1996), or among those wills transcribed or abstracted in Mayflower Descendant.
