Subject: Potter's Fields

Nancy, on this list, had written requesting records information on her
grandfather who had died indigent in the 1930's. My first thought was that
perhaps, as this was during the depression, no one had come forward to claim the
body as they simply did not have the means to bury him.
Then I thought that this very well may have been what happened to a lot of
those "elusive" relations we never seem to be able to find. Perhaps they had
left an area, dying elsewhere with no one knowing exactly where they had come
from or whom to contact.
As I was interested in the origin of the name "Potter's Field", I did a
search and found a wealth of information on these graveyards across the country.
Just one more area to search...one I had never thought of! (sometimes I tend
to be slow...lol)
