Plum Island is a barrier Island at the mouth of the Merrimac River in
Essex County, Massachusetts. Extending roughly from Salisbury to the
North to Ipswich in the South. The Southern 2/3 of the island is
currently the Plum Island Federal Wildlife Reserve [primarily
waterfowl] and the Northern part still has a few residences and the
lighthouse. I think politically the Island is tied to the town of
Newbury [not the city of Newburyport - these are two very separate
places!] but I'm not positive. Hope this helps.
