Hi all. Glad to see that this is working so well. Since there are new members
and I have a little more info then I had In Jan. I will ask again if anybody
has any knowledge of these Gustins, especially Renee Jane, who is my 2nd Great
Grandmother.
Here are the contents of a letter written to my GreatGrandmother after
requesting information about James Pence. She had divorced him when my
Grandmother was about 3. Exactly as written:

James Henry Pence was born in Tremont, Clark Co. Ohio June 9, 1849. James'
father's name was David Henry Pence and his mother's name was Rena Jane
Augustine originally but now it is called Gustine. James Henry Pence's
mother's father's name was John Gustine and John Gustine's father's name was
Jeramiah B. Gustine. James had a tool chest that originally belonged to
Jeramiah B. Gustine.
(James Pence was a Carpenter. This is the only reference that I have ever seen
refering to Jeramiah's middle initial-B. Possibly Benejah, like so many others
but do not know what the B stood for)
Jane and Eliza, Mr. Pence's own sisters, one half brother name John Thomas
Pence, half sisters Kate & Ella. Mr. Pence's step-mother and father lived near
Daleville, Indiana when he died. Eliza lived at Anderson, Indiana, John lives
now, June 24, 1883 at St-Joe, Ill. Kate and Ella lived in Newcastle, Ind.
James Pence's fathers fathers name was Peter.

There is a lot of documentation on the PENCE line as Richard Pence has been
researching it for 20 years. He has over 15,000 Pences listed in his files.

In a will filed Nov 15, 1830 it states that Thomas GUSTIN of Warren Co. Ohio
is adms. of estate of John GUSTIN, dec'd, who died 7-5-1829 seized of pt. SE¼
Section 9 and NE¼ Section 8, Township 3, Range 4. That Gustin left widow, Jane
Gustin and children--Cynthia wife of John Snider, Bethana, Mary, Naomi and
Renee Jane Gustin; the last four named being minors.

I have not been able to find marriages for Bethana (There are possible ones
that I have found, but no proof of which Bethana or Bethany it is that was
married) or Mary Gustin. Here is what I have put together on the family so
far, starting with John, who is the son of Jeramiah and Bethany FULLER:

Edmund1) was born September 8, 1776 in Warren Co. Ohio, and died July 5, 1829
in Chesterfield, Madison Co., Indiana. He married Jane Howe Abt. 1807 in
Warren Co. OH.

Chesterfield, Madison Co, IN. He married Elizabeth Kown March 31, 1835 in
Delaware Co., IN

More About Thomas Gustin:
Death date : Not proven. Because of being in Chesterfield this is probably the
correct Thomas

Notes for Elizabeth Kown:
I have seen this name spelled Cowan, but in the marriage book it is spelled
Kown.

3. Cynthia S.6 Gustin (John5, Jeremiah B.4, John3, Augustine LeRossignol2
Jean, Edmund1) was born Abt. 1809, and died December 24, 1885 in Delaware Co.,
IN. She married (1) Thomas Tripp. She married (2) John T. Snyder December
22, 1825 in Warren Co., OH, son of Conrad Snyder who was a formar Sheriff of
Warren Co.

books of Warren County.

Delaware Co. Indiana.
He married (1) Amanda Groenendyke April 12, 1857 in Madison Co., IN. He

6. Naomi Minerva6 Gustin (John5, Jeremiah B.4, John3, Augustine
LeRossignol2 Jean, Edmund1) was born November 22, 1819 in Warren Co, OH, and
died January 23, 1901 in Anderson, Madison Co, IN.
She married (1) Curtis Langley August 22, 1838 in Chesterfield, Madison Co,
IN, son of Jonathan Langley and Hannah Smith. She married (2) Jonas Whetstone
May 28, 1880 in Madison Co, IN.

On Oct .4, 1832 William Pence was appointed her Guardian.

1850 in Tremont, Clark Co., Ohio. She married David K. Pence Abt. 1843 in
Ohio, son of Peter Pence and Eve Kiblinger.

Notes for Renee Jane Gustin:
After her father's death James Gallaher became her Guardian until she turned
12 when William Pence became Guardian. Rena is buried in Gard-Rector Cemetery
near Tremont City. Cemetary is located at intersection of Upper Valley Pike
and Storms Creek Road in German Twp.
