JOHN T. GUSTAFSON

John T. Gustafson was born in Guteborg, Sweden in 1872. Son of a general in the Swedish Army, he spent his early years in that country. He came to America in March 1890, arriving in Boston, Mass at age 18 years. Having two sisters and a brother in New York state, it is believed that he spent a few years there before coming to Park River, ND.

In 1900 he married Mary JOHNSON of Mellrud, Sweden. She grew to womanhood in that country and spent the early part of her life there. She came to North Dakota in 1893.

Mr and Mrs John T. Gustafson homesteaded in Shepherd Twp, near Lawton. They had a family of three children:
Oliver Gustafson
Ernest Gustafson
Alice Gustafson

They moved to Vesta Twp in 1909 where they made their home. Mr Gustafson died in 1925 and Mrs Gustafson died in 1942.
