This is Jim Rapp from Bel Air, MD signing on to let you know that I read all
the posts and enjoy them a lot. I am from the "Butler County, PA clan" as
John refers to it. Since I am reading some interesting stories about some of
our relatives on this list, I will share a brief tale that came to me from
my Aunt Dorothy Rape Campbell deceased 25 Feb. 1991. In her own words, "My
father (Jacob A. Rape) drove his flock of sheep from Zelienople to Edinburg,
Pa. He walked all the way. When he got to New Castle, Pa., coming across the
bridge at Troutman's Department Store, a dog scared the sheep. It scattered
them all over the place. My father had to hire a young fellow to help him
round up the sheep. Then he continued on to Edinburg, Pa. That was six more
miles he walked with the sheep."
This is just one tale from her literary effort that she entitled "My story".
Perhaps before I die I should try my hand at this sort of thing!
Best wishes to you all,
