Good morning, John:

I am so new on this list and so new, actually, to the research of my Rape ancestors that I can offer no worthy comment about the postings to the list - except to say, I read all of them, print many of them, do not understand often if or how they pertain to my family. You are, indeed, a prince among men and without you I would still be back in the mountains of Georgia struggling with Rachel Melvina's grandfather.

So, I cannot offer any suggestions. These are troubling times, so many things to take our attention and now that Thanksgiving family gatherings and Christmas preparation is imminent, genealogy may be second in command. I could check out books from the library, John, to read our history and go the route you have taken, spending much time in study and half my income for professional researchers to ferret them out. Daily I am aware of the monumental thing you have done. The ancestry locations you outline are not what I expected when I took up the Genealogy search for my Rape "Dutch" ancestors or as some suggested "Black Dutch."

Not to be "wordy," when my neice gave me a copy of her genealogy research for the Sisemore/Sizemore line, she warned me not to wade in too deeply too soon. Not to be deterred or dictated to, I am now over my head in Sisemore/Rape/Fugate(fugatt, etc.); Thompson/Walker/Suttle; Hawkins/Hollingsworth/Callaway and these are just the major lines. LOL. I would settle down to just one line - "focas," they say - but I am afraid I will miss something.

You go, John! My precious mother-in-law had a saying to encourage me and to indicate her support of me. Here, I give it to you - "I will stand behind you 'till your belly is beat blue."

Melvina
