Could some kind soul, without my addled mind please help me come up with a logical explanation for the following: My mother (Edith Amy Kathleen) was born 1909 to Charles Henry Gurney and Edith Stevens(they married 1909,Kingston, Surrey).They do not appear on the 1911 census, but a Marsh family with the same details do,they are living 15 Victor Terrace, Washington Road, Cheam. My query is "Why would they change their names, if that is what has happened (Marsh is Charles mothers maiden name) Does anyone have any ideas how to check further if this is indeed my family?
