The Graham name is still very much treasured in Scotland, just mention that
being your sir name and you are notably liked, maybe they are afraid we will
steal their car or something, My Graham family came to America in the very
early 1700 maybe before, to Penn and then to Virginia now being West
Virginia, were in the Revolutionary war,
and in Politics in the Virginia Government, but I didn't know we were
chicken thieves,
maybe robber barons, while in Scotland I guess we had to make a living,
Good day to you,,,,,, Richard Graham

> The border Grahams, and other families (ie Johnson, Armstrong, Bell, and
Nixon) sympathetic to our cause, were removed from Scotland to the
Roscommons area Ireland because they were involved what can now be described
as "organized crime", (Cattle rustling, stealing chickens, murder for hire,
etc). They were called "Reivers". I think setting up a tole gate ("Toll
gate?" sic} sound like something in line with their other activities. Some
of the relocated Graham family members returned to Scotland a few years
later with help of their cousins living in the Scotish Lowland. In
addition, some of the returnees reversed the spelling of their name to
"Maharg", to help prevent being caught again.
