Jim, Thanks for all your information, George died 17 March 1958 presumably London or at least South England. He was noted in the newspapers once as "The Belfast man who twice faced the firing squad" during his time in Armenia or there abouts. I would dearly love to get in touch with his family today, especially for my father in law who is 83 and remembers George, that was my main reason for posting this.
Your information has been very helpful and I am sure my father in law will enjoy reading it. George was supposed to have been awarded the order of saint gregory for his efforts.
