Hi Deb, this is so nice of you to look up for me.
I have one Census report where Stephen states he was born in Oct.1851.
I have alot of conflicting info about him tho so your information is
a possible clue and I will keep it in my file.

I love a good mystery, so I thought I'd dig around a bit. (I believe I've
sent you some info before.)

Ancestry.com recently released an index of heads of household for the 1850
census. Using that data I was able to find the following:

1850 Census, Monroe Twp., Darke Co. OH (p. 399):
Goodale, Oren, age 48 b. OH (as are all others in this record), farmer, $700
real estate
Lucy, age 43
Pemelia, age 18 f
Abigail, age 16 f
Henry, age 14 m
Anna, age 12 f
Oren, age 6 m
Eastem?, age 10 (female)
Samuel, age 8 m
Stephen, age 4 m

This led me to the 1840 census:
Harlem, Delaware Co. OH (p. 144):
Goodale, Orrin, age 30-39
1 woman 30-39
1 boy under 5
2 girls under 5
2 girls 5-9

I hope this is the breakthrough you've been looking for.
