Today I have started a new line of enquiry.
A newspaper cutting from Australia printed in 1913 made
reference to a fire in which William Gladwell and family
were residing at Mt Lennan Street, Lutwyche.
The article was stored in an envelope with a note on the
outside "Ellen's fire"
The Ellen in question was Ellen Bush born in Croydon in
1877.
It is my assumption that William Gladwell married Ellen
Bush.
I am searching the St. Catherine's Index for a marriage.
The Bush family were resident in Lambeth for a period of
time and there is evidence of a Gladwell family being there
in the 1881 census returns.
William Gladwell aged 9 born in Brixton son Morris Gladwell
aged 40 born in Stanton, Suffolk and Hephezibah aged 41 born
in Hadleigh, Essex

It would be remarkable good fortune if it all clicked into
place. However I am expecting a much longer search to
establish whether a link exists.
I would be grateful for any help or ideas.
