Yes, Biers are my relatives too.

Understand the reward of the souls: Before a soul comes into a body, it is but a
tiny dot, though attached to the root as a branch to a tree. This dot is called
“the root of the soul and its world.” Had it not entered this world in a body, it
would have had only its own world, meaning its own share of the root.

Hi Tanja
It's a great site.
A bit difficult to bet it up, if you are directed to an index,
look for VOVKAKA, click on the link and you are away.
Bill, seems that we are relatives up and down the tree (not blook relatives),
as on this site in Warenburg's cemetry I found 2 tomb stones with "Bier" and
one of them, Mrs Bier, was a nee Pickelhaupt...

click next picture and it is the tombstone of maybe her husband Johannes Bier.
Unfortunately Vovka, doesn't know much about German Lutheran cemetries, so
he just describes the Warenburg cemetry in great detail.
so long

Subject:[GV] expedition to the Volga German area
Hi all,
Here is the link to a collection of photos taken by Russian hobby ethnographer on his recent trip to the old sites of the German settlements (both Bergseite and Wiesenseite) of the Volga Valley.
There are around 40 individual photo albums of the former VG settlements like Katharinenstadt, Rosenheim, Norka, Kutter, Laub, Schaefer, Brabander, Kukkus, Stahl, Dinkel, Warenburg etc and other points of interest, like the German Kraft Mill or the German water pump station in Friedenfeld.
Unfortunately, the descriptions are in Russian only, but the names for individual sites are both in Russian and English: http://imgsrc.ru/users/vovkakak
Enjoy!
