Katherine Marie (Frank) Kramer
(Father Philip Frank whose father George K. was born in Kautz, mother Elizabeth Juggert born in Kolb)

A lifelong resident of Tacoma, born March 29, 1925, passed away September 14, 2008.

Kay was married for 55 years to C. James Kramer. A 6-week courtship led to four children, Craig, Scott, Julie (Dale Phelps) and Claudia Graves (Matt), six grandchildren (Aimee, Casey, Kyle, Troy, Stephanie and Andrew), and three great-grandchildren (Katelynn, Amelia and Matthew).

Kay attended Lincoln High School. During World War II she worked at the Rainier Ordinance Depot. She also worked at the Port of Tacoma, and, after her children were grown, at West Coast Grocery.

She loved her grandchildren, gardening, reading, bookkeeping, the classic Mariners (especially Edgar and Ichiro), traveling, walks, McDonald's, playing Bridge, crossword puzzles and snow-birding in Hemet, Calif. Among many other reasons, her children loved her for putting up with annual family vacations to Delano Beach - a tradition that lasted for nearly 20 years.

A service for family and friends to celebrate Kay's life will be held at New Tacoma Cemetery Friday, September 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633, or the Boys and Girls Club of Pierce County (Gonyea Branch) 5136 N. 26th St., Tacoma, WA 98407.
