Tribute: Helen Hannah Deering was born to John George and Molly (Fabricius) Baus in Fort Collins, where she was reared and educated.

On May 3, 1941, she married John George Deering in Cheyenne. He died Sunday at Kenton Manor in Greeley.

Mrs. Deering and her husband moved to the Fort Collins area where they farmed. They moved southeast of La Salle in 1955 and to their home in Greeley in 1962.

Mrs. Deering loved to cook, sew and embroider. She worked at the downtown Safeway for two years. She worked at Ted & Chet's Grocery Store on 10th Street for 17 years. She was the hostess at Po' Folks Restaurant and later at the Country Inn for six years.

Helen and John enjoyed the Evans Senior Center dinners on Tuesday and eating at the Paragon Restaurant. They loved to go to polka dances and dutch hops up until three years ago. They were members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church since 1955. They enjoyed camping and fishing at Red Feather Lakes and family trips to Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Grand Canyon and Mesa Verde and made two trips to Hawaii to visit their son.

Mrs. Deering died Monday at Kenton Manor in Greeley.

Survivors: Two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis and George Steen and Luann Deering, all of Greeley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Leslie Deering of Greeley and Terrell and Martha Deering of Poway, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bud Reese of Philadelphia; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by: Her sister, Dorothy Neale, and two brothers, Alvin and Clyde Baus.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave., in Greeley.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home.
