BAYARD - Dorothy Jane Jerger, 74, went to be with her Lord Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Regional West Medical Center with her family at her side. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, at Gering Zion Church in Gering with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.
Friends may visit at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to Noon on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com
Dorothy was born April 18, 1932, in Minatare, to J. George and Lydia (Schmidt) Ott. She received her education in Gering, graduating from Gering High School. She married Elmer Jerger July 23, 1950, and soon lived on a farm outside of Bayard. Two children were born to this union.
Dorothy was very active in her church during the 60 years she was a member. Over the years she was a pianist, taught Sunday School, was Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the choir, was wedding chairperson, and a member of the Friendship Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer; daughter, Kathleen Gibb of Fairfield, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Janet Jerger of Seward, Neb.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kay Ott of Melbeta; sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Betty Ott both of Gering; grandchildren, Shawn Gibb of Oviedo, Fla. and Jason, Sarah and Kevin Jerger of Seward.
Preceding her in death were her parents; infant brother, George; brothers, Walter and Richard Ott; and sister, Leona Buth.
