LINCOLN - Effie Frank, 94, formerly of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at a Waverly nursing facility. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday at The Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038. Her obituary may be viewed online at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com where condolences may be left to be forwarded to the family.
Effie was born Aug. 5, 1912, in Mitchell the daughter of Henry and Charlotte (Schlunt) Herdt. She received her education there. She was united in marriage to Henry Frank Nov. 30, 1930, in Hawk Springs, Wyo. The couple made their home and farmed near Hawk Springs until moving to the Valley in 1932. In 1963, they moved to Scottsbluff and built the Frank Motel on Avenue I, which is now the Capri Motel. They returned to farming in 1972 east of Scottsbluff until moving to Scottsbluff after their retirement in 1978.
Effie was a member of Salem Congregational Church and was a charter member of the Friendly Circle in which she remained active until 1997. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, cooking, and reading until her eyesight started to fail.
Survivors include her sons, Wilbert D. Frank (JoAnn) of Chinook, Mont., Henry Laverne Frank (Sheryl) of Auburn, Calif., Raymond L. Frank (Trudy) of Scottsbluff, and Donald E. Frank (Bobbe) of Alpharetta, Ga.; daughter, Charlotte Frank of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Rosie Schmick of Torrington, Wyo. and Sara Herdt of Caldwell, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Effie in death were her parents; husband in 1984; daughter, Elnora J. Heinrich; son, Gerald D. Frank; five brothers, and three sisters.
