Marjorie Mathias, 82, of Buffalo, Wyo., died Friday, June 25, at her home.

Mrs. Mathias was born March 5, 1922, in Greeley to Henry and Ida Oster.

She was raised in La Salle and Evans and graduated from Greeley High School
in 1940.

On May 10, 1942, she married Delmer Mathias in Greeley. He died June of
2000.

They made their home on a farm west of Greeley. In the fall of 1968 they
moved to Wyoming to purchase a ranch on Sybille Creek, southwest of
Wheatland. In 1976 they moved to Shell, Wyo., where they ranched with their
son Dave and in December of 1981 they moved to Columbus, Mont., where they
lived until retiring from ranching in 1991. It was then that they moved to
Buffalo. After her husband died, she continued living in Buffalo until the
time of her death.

Mrs. Mathias was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served
one term as president of the United Methodist Women. She also helped with
dinners and played in the Kitchen Band. She was very active in 4-H and
enjoyed playing cards with her many friends at the senior center and
throughout the community. She was known for her great cooking talents, and
no one ever left her house hungry. Her greatest enjoyment in life were her
family, gardening, friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading,
cooking, listening to music and dancing with her husband. She loved her dogs
and cats and newborn animals of any kind.

Survivors are a daughter, Loretta McGuire of Wheatland; a son, Dave Mathias
of Buffalo; a sister Venice and husband Carl Schafer of La Salle; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, an infant daughter, her parents, a grandson and a brother, are
deceased.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo
with the Rev. Su Debree officiating.

Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow
the funeral.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Thursday, both at the funeral home chapel.

Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Mathias to the 4-H Scholarship Fund
in care of the Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo, Wyo. 82834.
