Pete Zimmerman, 78, of Greeley died Thursday, June 12, at Hospice and
Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit, Greeley.
He was born June 17, 1924, in Sterling, Kan., to Bernhard and Bertha (Kleck)
Zimmerman.

On June 7, 1947, he married Rosie Hill in Burlington.

Mr. Zimmerman attended Union 5 School in Sterling, Kan., through the ninth
grade and graduated with a 96 percent grade average. He farmed the family
farm near Sterling until Jan. 4, 1955. He then farmed near Cope until April
1956, when he moved to Denver where he worked at Carter Oil Co. On May 1,
1961, he and his family moved to Greeley, where he owned and operated
Zimmerman Oil Co., with distributorships for Carter Oil Co., or Exxon and
Sinclair Oil Co. He also owned and operated Z&M Pump and Equipment Service
until he retired in 1991.

Mr. Zimmerman was a member of the Greeley Wesleyan Church. He also was a
director of the Boys and Girls Club in Greeley from 1974-86. He served as
president of the board from 1975-76 and started the paper recycling program
at the Boys Club of Greeley. He was a founding board member of the
Windsor/Severance Ducks Unlimited Chapter and the Greeley Lady's Ducks
Unlimited Chapter. He was a life member of the Greeley Elks No. 809 since
1973.
He loved to do woodwork projects at home.

Survivors are his wife, Rosie Zimmerman; a daughter and son-in-law, Berniece
and David Mitchell of Greeley; three sisters, Rosa Bratton and Elner Beck,
both of Hutchinson, Kan., and Doris Watts of Kansas City, Kan.; two
grandsons and their wives, Chad and Sheri Mitchell and Jay and Lynn
Mitchell, all of Greeley; and 12 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Lela
Lolling and Violet Fitzpatrick, and a brother, Martin Zimmerman, are
deceased.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Greeley Wesleyan Church, 3600
22nd St. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.

Friends may visit from 1-5 p.m. today at the Adamson Memorial West Chapel,
Greeley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of
Northern Colorado Inc., Boys and Girls Club of Greeley or the Greeley
Wesleyan Church, all in care of Adamson Memorial West Chapel, 2000 47th
Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
