I need some help with ships.
why were some steam ships and other sailing ships during the same period ?
or was it just a case of transition.
eg the SS Lessing that brought Volga GRs to USA in 1876 was a steam ship,
yet a year later, on some volga GRs set sail on a sailing ship for Africa,
by the lineGodefrroy, on the sailing ship "Saturnus" -
I can't find a picture of it on the Internet, but I found its sister sailing ship
"La Rochelle".
Can anyone find "Saturnus" - it carried 38 Volga-Germans to South Africa,
after they had been robbed in Hamburg, and cou;d no longer afford passage
no N or S America, and so took up an offer of a free passage to Cape Town,

Thanks, iof anyone can help
