This is by no means a complete listing of those that may be on the
Ellis Island Records. They are just some of the ones that I found and
You also need to realize that with all transcriptions or extraction which
is what these were that error abound. The ships personnel who orignial
did the manifests made spelling mistakes. The customs people who worked
at Ellis Island used the ship manifests to do the entrance documentation.
The Ellis Island Web Site people made every effort to read someone elses
handwriting which in a lot of cases is not mean feat. Final I also looked
at the Ellis Island information and then tried to look at the original
image and in some cases I also probably made a typographical error.
I would suggest that you look for every conceivable spelling of the
surname that you are looking to find. You may find it or you may not but
that doesn't mean they are not there.
