The address below is also a place where you can search for living relatives
in Germany and perhaps in other places. They will reply in German but there
are people there who read English. Also, note the complete address for the
Landsmannschaft which is also the address for "Volk auf dem Weg." I left
out most of the address in my last posting.

Dear Mr. Christopher Ex,

We thank you for your querie of the 18.2.2003

> In unseren Karteiunterlagen für den Ort Frank, ASSR der Wolgadeutschen
sind keine Namensträger EX verzeichnet.
>
There are no people listed with the name of Ex in our files for the locality
of Frank, Volga German Republic.
We would like to point out that people who are listed in our files are
mainly persons who were still alive at the time when WW II broke out
(1.9.1939) and who had their regular residence in one of the areas to which
they were exiled. We are not able to carry out a search of your family
further back because it is only in the rarest of cases that we have dates
available for people who go way back into the 19th century.

In regard to the emigration from Germany to Russia we recommend the book
"The Emigration from Germany to Russia in the Years 1763-1862" by Dr. Karl
Stumpp which can be order from the Landsmannschaft der Russlanddeutschen,
Raitelsbergstr. 49, 70188 Stuttgart.
