Leona Ballas service Mon.

Leona Ballas, 79, of Sterling, died Wednesday.
Mrs. Ballas was born June 13, 1923, in Snyder to David and Katherine Weimer,
and she attended Fort Morgan High School. She married Clayton Ballas Aug. 4,
1951, in Raton, N.M. They moved to Sterling in 1952 from Albuquerque, N.M.,
where she has since lived. She enjoyed gardening and embroidery.

Mrs. Ballas was survived by a son, Ron Ballas of Sterling; one daughter,
Lynette Ballas of Las Cruces, N.M.; three sisters, Helen Baier of Denver,
Elsie Duke of Clinton, Tenn., and Violet Cox of Hope Mills, N.C.; a brother,
Leroy Weimer of Hamlet, Neb.; two grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Memorial services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in
Sterling with services concluding at the funeral home. Rev. Steven Schorr
will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fort Morgan cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Leona Ballas Memorial.
