Welcome, Wendy!
I hope others will follow your example and introduce themselves. There
is just no telling what talent is lurking on this list :)
Let me start off, and please, everyone who will, chime in.
I started this list several years ago with the sincere hope that
everyone struggling with the problems of developing and maintaining a
genealogical society would use it as a forum to share problems and learn
from others. We haven't had much activity so I guess everyone's society
is either doing well, or completely died like ours. The last I wrote
was the problem of getting (trying to force?) our local librarian to
accept donations dealing with areas other than our local county and
state. Sadly, she didn't budge so our collection is not growing, and
used very little.
I was one of the original group who formed our society in 1993 and
served as president for awhile, then as special projects getter-doer.
We had a fair size group for a long time, but only about four who would
actually serve in office and be involved in our projects. That dwindled
to two and we struggled for awhile longer, then just gave up and work
together on our private projects.
Next?
Joyce
(An interesting thing I'm seeing on genealogy lists is that when a list
does become active, people start unsubbing like crazy. Guess they
joined to NOT get messages! Hope you will all stick with us and
participate.)
