That your interface doesn't display those headers, doesn't mean
it doesn't follow the accepted practices defined for newsreaders. Making
references "clickable" is a feature added by some newsreaders -- putting
in a reference line in the first place is standard. Whatever method you
are using, if it has a "reply button", it is remembering the message ID
you were reading at the time and inserting a reference to it.

About the only way to avoid that behavior would be to manually
TELNET to the NNTPd and feed the system every header by hand.
