Subject: helping a co worker
Date: 31 Dec 1998 05:18:53 GMT

Hi there. I'm searching a family history for a co worker of mine, who is
searching for the name of her great Grandma. All the information I was able to
get from her is this....

My co worker's name is Allene Lawson.

the great grandmother is on her father's side.
Her grandfather's name was Manuel Backer (or Becker.) When he got old enough
to go to school (He had come with his family from Russia when he was 2 1/2) the
teacher changed his last name to Baker. Evidently part of the family kept the
original name Backer (or Becker- They had some land evidently.) but the other
part of the family adopted the "new" name. Manuel evidently had a brother
named Frank, and married a woman by the name of Katherine Armbrook (or
Armbreck) (possibly Armbrecht? I think she was German)

Her Dad (who I think died in 1911 (or was born in 1911, on May 31 either way-
I'm not sure) was named Raymond Aberham Baker. His wife was named Ruth
Elizabeth Coulter (this lady was Allene's mother). Other names that I was
given include Leland Baker (his family and friends called him Jack), Lela
Baker, and Pearl Baker.

If you or anyone you know can be of any help to me, please email me at
and let me know. Thank you for your time..

Scott
