Very limited data, but from a number of email exchanges I've had, yes
there is substantial interest, but there wasn't enough to create a group
when a vote was taken a few months ago. In traditional Asian cultures,
particularly Chinese, many families had records going back many
generations, so the need may not have been felt as acutely as among
those whose roots are elsewhere, but I sense that the 2/3/4th generation
offspring of immigrants are finding themselves cut off from any records
that existed back home, and are developing interest.

I repeat my semi=annual question: any interest in organizing an Asian
Pacific genealogy group?
