Carolyn,
I think Worlin State must be Gubernia Volyn' in the western Ukraine,
(the sound match between Worlin and Volyn' is good as long as your W is
pronounced as a V). The usual english name for this district is Volhynia,
it's capital was Zhitomir (which you can probably find in your atlas)

Many German families and Jewish families came to the USA and Canada
from this district. (It's where all my mother's family came from).
