The place to look for Britons in India is the India Office Records and Library
in London. They have all the records of the East India Company, court
records, parish records, etc., with a large card file of abstracted records.
They also have many obscure and rare books, such as almanacs, etc. A great
collection of material.

Army or Navy records would be at the Public Record Office in Kew. They have
recently published a genealogical guide to military records.
