From the entry in the "Companion to Irish History":

Cumann na mBan

"A force of female auxiliaries founded in April 1914 by Constance
Markievicz to assist the Irish Volunteers. Cumann na mBan provided
messengers and support for the IRA during the Easter rising of
1916..."
