In addition to the suggestion already given, you could consider using
the Research Targets feature for this. I think that's one of the uses it
was designed for. It would be difficult, though, to add a checklist for
every person in the database. Personally, I've created a spreadsheet for
my checklists, with individuals as rows and resources as columns. I find
it easier to get an overall view of things that way. You could also
record the date of the "check," since some resources (e.g., Google
Books, Rootsweb) are continually updated, and it makes sense to check
them periodically.
