Peggy - And I take issue with how Mills cites legal cases entirely. The
Blue Book form is must more efficient and if you walked into a law library
to ask to see the book in which a legal opinion was printed they would work
best from the Blue Book form. With the format that you cite, it is unclear
which of the many Tennessee Courts heard the case. To find the actual court
documents it would be pretty important to know whether it was heard by the
Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Criminal Appeals, Statute, Session
laws, Administration compilation, or Administrative register -- and those
are only the jurisdictions at the state level. They are probably several
other jurisdicitions at other levels (county, city). And since this was a
legislative petition, who issued the opinion? The state of Tennessee?
Wilson County? Or the state legislature?

Tom,
I decided recently that I could just make one "public record (microfilm)"
template that would fit many records on microfilm - vital, court records,
etc. The example I am supplying here is actually from the Tennessee State
Archives, but could easily be from the FHL:
Henrietta Mitchell vs. Henry Mitchell, divorce, no. 55, 1 September 1831,
Tennessee, Wilson County Legislative Petitions, 1831:1-3; microfilm roll 12
(1831-1832), Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, Tennessee.
[DOC SUBJECT], <[DOC DATE], >[DOC TITLE], [DOC QUALIFIER]; microfilm [DOC
LOCATER], [REPOSITORY], [REPOSITORY CITY], [REPOSITORY STATE].
DOC SUBJECT - Henrietta Mitchell vs. Henry Mitchell, divorce, no. 55
DOC DATE - 1 September 1831
DOC STATE [Jurisdiction] - Tennessee
DOC TITLE [Series] - Wilson County Legislative Petitions
DOC QUALIFIER [Vol:Pg] - 1831:1-3
DOC LOCATER [Microfilm] - roll 12 (1831-1832)
REPOSITORY, REPOSITORY CITY, REPOSITORY STATE - Tennessee State Library and
Archives, Nashville, Tennessee
This is pretty close to what's in EE! She did modify how she thought thinks
should be done between Evidence and Evidence Explained and I take the
changes a bit with a grain of salt.

I am in the beginning of finally updating and properly entering sources in
my database. (14+ inches of snow on the ground and single digit temperatures
make this a great project.)
The majority of my data at this point is from LDS Microfilm. I have been
studying Evidence Explained by Elizabeth Shown Mills as I want to do this
right and only once.
I have not found any source templates in Genbox that conform to the
structure recommended in Evidence Explained.
Most of my data will be from microfilm image copies of FHL preservation
copies of church records from Poland. Has anyone constructed templates to
fit these recommendations? Or does anyone have any suggestions or guidelines
for doing this?
Templates in this form will be highly useful to me as they will cover 90% of
my data, perhaps more.
