I am cleaning up the places list (view>places) after a Gedcom import from
Legacy.

I have one entry-- #583, Bicester, Oxfordshire, England, with two links to
separate people.

I have a second entry--# 788, Bicester, with a link to a third person.

If I merge #788 into # 583, I am left with #583 Bicester, Oxfordshire,
England and under Names tab in View>Places -- two Bicester's, each having
different numbers in the last column after the name Bicester.

If I highlight and delete either Bicester that is in the Names tab, I am
asked if I want to delete Bicester, Oxfordshire, England, and all records
etc. If I say yes, all reference to Bicester is gone.

Is there a way to eliminate one Bicester in the Name tab (View>Places) or
does this have to be cleaned up before the Gedcom import into an empty
database? I have more than one of this occurrence.

Or can it just be left, as they are both spelled the same, and not cause any
problems?

Or am I going about it completely wrong from the beginning?

I have ran check structure, compact, check links, check field codes, and
refresh.

With Thanks in advance

Spencer Field
