Hi Andre,
I have heard of no "roadmap" as to definitely when or containing what for v4. Since beta testers are typically restricted from making comments, there would be nothing from that end either.
As to the "why" little information about an upcoming release is available, typically that is because little is definite about a new software release until the end. Getting new features to work correctly without interfering with current features, cleaning up bugs, and more is happening. I have worked in Silicon Valley's computer industry for 24 years now, writing customer documentation. The last major release at the company where I work add major features in each of the last three builds for the six software applications. For example, a complete reporting system was added to the final build. Sort of makes it difficult to include information about those features in online help when the final help file must also be in that last build and the data is not available until the build occurs.
Currently three genealogy applications, Genbox, Legacy, and TMG (in alphabetical order) all seem to be working toward a release, perhaps by the end of the current year. And, there is little information about what will actually be included in each.
Best,
Denise
