Polly - The reason that you get US is that New York is linked to the higher
place level US. You can make a name variant for New York that does not have
a higher link. Then when you enter you can enter it either way.
Munnsville must be marked a Local Site, instead of a City which is suspect
it is. You need to go to the place record for Munnsville, and delete the
higher place. Then "promote" Munnsville to a city and add back the county
and state as the higher place.

Subject: [GENBOX] Deleting a Place Name
I am still struggling with changing/altering/deleting place names. I
have a place name - Munnsville, City of Oneida, Madison County, New
York, United States. It is an error since Munnsville is not in the City
of Oneida. I went to the event that the place is linked to and changed
it to Munnsville, Madison County, New York. Now there are no links to
the incorrect place. Now I want to get rid of the incorrect place. Is it
as simple as going to the place and on the Data pull-down menu,
selecting Delete Place or is it more complicated than that?
Also, even though I stop typing a place name after the state (usually
New York), GenBox decides that United States should be inserted and
automatically inserts it at the end, even though I don't want it.
