Rod - This did not work for me as I got places that I *know* are linked to
events. And it returned all of the abbreviations for the various states in
the U.S. For example, it returned M.C. Printing, however, this is a
publication place for one of my sources. If I were to have deleted all of
these results, I'd be deleting places that ARE linked and I'd be in big
ka-ka. I just don't understand why this isn't working properly. Ideas?

Hi Jim,
With the filter for Places displayed (without typing anything to search
for):-
Click on Data Links: and enter 0.
Click on Place Links: and enter 0.
Click on the 'Update' button. (The spinning hour glass starts, disappears
for a little while, then starts again, then shortly the filtered list
appears).
Click on the 'Set Filter' button.
Rod.

Rod,
I am missing something from your explanation. I can't set a filter
for places with no dependencies until I type something in to search
for. So, if I enter "V" I get a filtered list of unused places that
start with V. What am I doing wrong. Could you please add the bullet
steps in your instructions above?
I guess the only reason I brought Legacy up was that it could do what
Cheri wanted to do and I have been looking for the same thing in GB.
Legacy can do the same kind of "surgery" on all lists BUT it has a few
defined lists not unlimited lists like GB.
