Don, Kathy, et al. - Since I do some preliminary census work as the mood
strikes me (finding the family on Ancestry or HQ and then extract later;
often done to quickly "build a family"), I create a Cen-LkUp event & copy
and paste the census "location" into the Research Note field. When I get
around to doing the actual extraction work, I first create a Saved List for
each Cen-LkUp year and then run a report with the name of the HoH, the
location, and the Research Note. Then I can quickly focus on extracting all
individuals for whom I have a Cen-LkUp event for a selected year.
Since my employer has okayed it for me to do genealogy research when I have
down time at work, I run this report, make several copies of the census
forms for the year(s) in question, and then can quickly step through the
individuals because I've already done the hard part . . . finding them with
all of the name variations, enumerator & indexing misspellings, etc.
Currently I believe that I have about 500 censuses to extract.
