I don't understand the beef with narrative reports because it does not
appear to me that ANY married name is assumed. I kept my birth-given
surname when I married. My daughter's individual narrative reads: "Shannon
Louise Baz-Casper, daughter of John Joseph Baz-Dresch and Cheri Luann
Casper, was born on . . . ." A married name is NOT assumed for me.
However, my husband's narrative report shows his mother's maiden name and
married name: "John Joseph Baz-Dresch, son of Rafael Maria de la Luz Felix
Enrique Agustin del Sogrado Corazon de Jesus and Mary Edith (Evans) Baz y
Dresch, was born on . . . ."

The difference is that for my mother-in-law I've added a married name
identifier; for myself, I have not. Therefore, it appears that the
convention (maiden) married only comes into play if the female/mother has a
married name identifier. If she does not, no married name is assumed. I
used the very same report in both instances so that is the only difference
that I can attribute to the appearance of the married name.

Perhaps someone else would like to run a test; I used the Individual
Narrative.

Wim,

I had not realized that GenBox was so culturally *one-eyed* - meaning
US-oriented.

There are many cultures where there is not an _automatic_ assumption of the
males's surname on Marriage.

**PLEASE implore Bill Flight to fix this. **

Luckily, I have not tried to use GenBox to report on my own family. If had
shown such reports to certain partners, the content would have been harshly
disparaged as _inaccurate_ . "You should have known better than to use a
program that forces the assumption of a marriage name. I will never be
known by that name".
