Subject: Hi, question
Date: Wed, 4 Aug 2004 23:09:12 -0500
This whole topic has been most helpful as I have finally started to
whittle away the pile of papers in my basement. I tend to just jump in
feet first and when I came upon a death certificate, entering and using the
document became fuzzy last nite. But now after checking out a link, THANK
YOU ALL! I understand it much better!
I do have a question, and please excuse my lack of computer knowledge. I
have saved a copy of the database to cd, but when I go to open the database
it says :
"ALERT: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file
D:\\file.end. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you
need permission to view its data"
only an ok button to push and upon clicking it I get :
"initiation failed (6)"
can anyone help me with this one? I had hopes of saving to a cd every
month, so that should I have problems and loose data for one reason or
another I would have back ups which would only be lacking the recent
month's entries. I had tried this on an old desktop using a z-drive a
week ago with Genbox, and it worked fine. But on this newer laptop- only
have had it a few days, this is the problem I have encurred using the
writeable cd drive. Should I abandon trying to use the cd and load the zip
drive on the laptop as my backup storage drive?
Thank you for any advice or help.
