sound extremely elegant (particularly the first one), BUT they too will not
be portable through gedcom.
Well, maybe, maybe not. I'm not the Gedcom guru, but an awful lot of what
goes into a Gedcom file is dependent on the author of the program that is
writing the Gedcom file. While the 'feature' of marking the Source text may
not be transportable, it may be possible for marked text itself to accompany
the source citation.

interchange format, a way to bring such features across between programs,
but it doesn't exist yet, and may never.
Right now, I am hopeful for those who are working on a standard for XML
tagging of a genealogical database. The potential exists for us to work with
a standardized database, with different programs as front ends interpreting
it. It is my belief that we will see this in less than 30 years, and I hope
I'm around to see it. <g>
