Phil - I'm sorry if this is causing you distress but the trial version *is*
the complete version, fully functional for 30 days. You download and use it
for that period. After that I think you can no longer enter data but I'm
not sure because I purchased the program after using it for only 2 days or
else you make the decision to purchase the program. Bill even offers an
additional 30-day trial upon request. I don't know if any program that
provides a trial version on CD other than Legacy or PAF (but you still need
to pay for the cost of the CDs, although the programs are essentially free
in the first place unless you want the manuals and the add-ons. The Master
Genealogist has been a download for the past two years. Now you can
purchase it on CD and it has a money back guarantee; the CD version has only
been available for about a month or so. It may be that Bill Flight, the
developer, has a trial version on CD or makes the same deal that TMG does .
. . money back guarantee, but I can't speak for him. GenTech is going on at
the moment and Bill is there so you may want to contact him privately next
week.

If you don't decide to try GenBox, it will be your loss because it is the
best of the pack. Paul Harris, a member of this list, used his previous
program for over 12 years and made the switch. If you don't decide to try
this program, then I guess you are just going to be stuck with one of those
programs that you rejected or you could look at the European programs such
as Heredis or Parentele but I don't see the need to get nasty about how this
program is handled . . . even on a trial basis. There are a lot of great
programs available for download and its too bad that you have such a vocal,
negative opinion of the process. I know that there are several people on
this list who use ByGones in conjunction with GenBox. Since it is freeware,
it is only obtainable via download.

One thing about this list is that the members are polite and there have been
no flames. Let's see that it stays that way, please.
