Hi Claire,

CheriC and I were struggling with this behaviour in Genbox two weeks ago too.
It happened when we tried to add adoption parents to a child on the parents
tab. What happened was that after we had chosen one individual as
adoption-parent there immediately was a couple created with one (unknown
spouse). After we had selected the second person a second couple with the
correct names was created. The (unknown spouse)-couple sometimes was still
there too.
On the parentstab you can select the (unknown spouse)-couple and delete it. I
think this will get rid of the multiple appearances in reports.

The easiest and safest way to add a child to a couple is on the summary tab
with the correct spouse showing for the focus person. After you've added the
child to these parents you can change the relationship between the child and
the parents on the parents tab of the child.

The fact that it doesn't show on the Summary tab after you've made alterations
may be due to the fact that not all data is carried through immediately to al
views in Genbox (in my experience). I often do a Repair/Compact in those cases
where it seems that data "doesn't stick" or doesn't show correctly. I tried
using "Check Links" and "Refresh Data" first but mostly that wasn't enough.

Wim

[Wim,
[
[In my test database I have now noticed that I had the same situation on my
[own Individual view with my one and only husband listed as spouse #2 and
["unknown" listed as spouse #1. I tried unlinking Spouse #2 and then linking
[him back as spouse #1. This made a bigger mess. All the children are now
[unlinked from their father.
[
[Next I brought up the individual view for the first child and have tried
[repeatedly to re-enter his father and it won't stick. I can make him stick
[on the Parents Tab but not on the Summary tab. I checked his Birth event and
[added the Father back in, but on the Summary View the fathers name will
[still not stick.
[
[If I go to the Individual view for the father it shows him with 1 child -
[the one I tried to correct. Something I am doing is causing this problem. I
[have since found another instances of 2 spouses when their should be only
[one. In this instances all I had done was to add an undated Birth event for
[one of the children so they would show as such in the reports. Now that
[child shows 2 times - Once with an unknown father and again with his father
[on the descendants reports.
[
[I hesitate to start messing with my real database until I have this figured
[out. Too much work has already been done to want to start over with a new
[import. Also don't want to do anymore till I find out what I am doing wrong.
[Not sure what to do now.
