Debbie - You don't have to have the codes for [LEAD TEXT] and [ANNOTATION]
in your templates. They are automatically used. It would be nice, however,
if their output *did* require the use of the variable. Then you could fudge
the placement and stick them whereever you needed a second [CD]. I guess
you are telling me that using the variable overrides the "automatic period"
that is generated *before* the Annotation, when the variable is absent. I
will have to test this out. That is what happens when are you are working
on this stuff between 3 and 4 a.m. CheriC

Cheri,
If you are putting that date in the ANNOTATION field, why not add that to
your template, this way you can get rid of that period. For example,
instead of this:
[DOC AUTHOR], "<[CD]>," e-mail message from [DOC
QUALIFIER] to author (hereinafter "<[CD]>") [DOC NOTES].

change the template to this:
[DOC AUTHOR], "<[CD]>," e-mail message from [DOC
QUALIFIER] to author (hereinafter "<[CD]>") [DOC NOTES]<, [ANNOTATION]>,

You can also code the [LEAD TEXT] into your templates, which will also get
rid of any periods. I do this for my census templates
