I have the following for sale:
A HISTORY OF THE NINTH REGIMENT, ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, With The
Regimental Roster, by the Chaplain Marion Morrison, born 1821, originally
published in 1864, 1997 printing. Many Illinois German immigrants enlisted
in the Union Army from St. Clair Co. IL, from Belleville, Mascoutah,
Lebanon, Millstadt and other towns and marched to Springfield under the
command of August Mersy, veteran of the failed 1848 revolt of Baden,
Germany. He was rejected due to his poor English and replaced by Col.
Eleazer A. Paine, Ohio, West Point graduate.
Fort Donelson and Shiloah Church. The depleted 9th received 103 men from
the 128th Illinois (from Williamson Co.) and 105 imprisoned deserters. Soft
cover, 143 pages, 1000s of names listed with hometowns, photos, excellect
condition, $20+$2.50 postage.
